Come to the exciting fortress island where everything is dedicated to maps and navigation.
You challenge the experiment with various geo-techniques. You get disoriented in the dark underground corridor. You will be challenged in the smart maze and becomes fascinated by maps in the barracks. Children can delve into the Bat Trail Garden of Staatsbosbeheer. After a day at GeoFort you know how salmons find their way, why the north pole shifts, how an iPhone knows where you are, how maps can lie and much more.

Smart Maze
Find your way from A to B by various types of navigation technology. Use scents, sounds, sensors and your brains to navigate through the numerous corridors and complete challenging assignments on your way. Or navigate like a bee and use an iPhone to locate the digital flowers in 6 hubs. Navigating through a maze has never been such an exciting experience!
Age: from 6 years old.

Bat Trail Garden
Ever wondered what a bat’s life is like? Become one for a day in our Bat Trail Garden! This adventurous experience by Staatsbosbeheer takes you on a trip through the life of bats. Where do they sleep? How do they mate? How can they navigate quickly and hunt for prey? Fly along!

GeoExperience
At this time our GeoExperience is still in development. Some activities are already available, like the 4D Globe and the workshops: make your own compass and globe. Two theme rooms, Tossing & Turning and Powers of Ten will be opened during the Easter weekend. The first 2 theme rooms that show how geography is entwined into daily life. Powers of Ten is all about scale differences and Tossing and Turning presents an interactive globe which gives you the opportunity to turn back time for millions of years, just with the wave of your hand.
The theme rooms Flat & Funny and Eye in the Sky are scheduled for opening mid May. The common denominator of all these rooms? Explore and experience the full potential of X,Y,Z.

Meet our GeoCollection, a unique collection of historic surveying instruments that tell the story of the development of cartography, surveying and spatial planning in the Netherlands. The objects are part of the collection of the Dutch Cadastre.
Next to our GeoCollection we offer the possibility to try historic suverying instruments and techniques yourself. Measure the dimensions of our ‘fortgracht’ or determine GeoFort’s latitude with a real sextant!
