The Autumn Break is Coming!
The perfect time for an adventurous day out at GeoFort. During the autumn holiday we’re open every day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This autumn, there is plenty to discover, explore and play! Whatever the weather, GeoFort is the perfect place to visit. In the Future Museum, you can discover surprising activities, including an exhibition about Artificial Intelligence (AI), generate your own energy on a bicycle, take an elevator ride deep into the Earth and take a group photo in front of the Green Screen. On selected days, there are extra activities such as the children’s tour Signals & Secrets and the Energy Lab.
This autumn is also all about extra Minecraft fun. Children can take part in special Minecraft activities and workshops. Read on to discover more about the special activities during the autumn holidays.
Check out all our extra autumn break activities below. All dates are subject to change.
Children’s Tour: Signals & Secrets
October: 10, 14, 17 and 24 | Start times: 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
Step back in time with General Krayenhoff and discover how people communicated in the past without smartphones or Wi-Fi! During this interactive children’s tour, you will discover the world of secret messages and old technology.
We start with a short introduction in which the guide tells you about the fort and the importance of communication in the past. But listening alone isn’t enough, of course – you’ll get to try it yourself! Can you send secret messages to each other without being able to see one another?
After this exciting challenge, we will take a guided walk around the fort. We then head to the group shelter, where a special experience awaits the children: making a phone call using an old telephone that suddenly feels surprisingly modern after working with Morse code!
Experiment in the Energy Lab
October: 12, 17, 20 and 22 | Three sessions at 11:30 am, 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
In the Energy Lab, children work together in a small group with an enthusiastic guide to investigate and experiment. They discover how electricity works and how they can generate sustainable energy themselves.
Minecraft Activities
Minecraft Fox Maze
Permanent museum activity
Go on an adventure in the Minecraft Fox Maze and help a lost baby fox find its parents! In this exciting maze, follow the scent trail of blueberries, the foxes’ favourite treat in Minecraft.
As you make your way through the maze, you will also discover interesting facts about foxes, explore different Minecraft biomes and find out which resources are hidden in each area.
Minecraft Heat Hunters Scavenger Hunt
Daily throughout the holiday, ongoing between 3:00 and 5:00 pm. New round every 15 minutes.
Our super-popular Minecraft scavenger hunt has been renewed!
Go on a GeoCraft adventure along fault lines and discover the world of geothermal energy. In Minecraft, search for heat points where you will find an x- and y-coordinate. But beware: one of the heat points is fake. Only by searching carefully will you discover the correct location and unravel what is hidden beneath the ground. An exciting adventure that blurs the boundary between Minecraft and the real world.
Magnetic Minecraft
Permanent museum activity
Go all out with more than 20,000 magnetic Minecraft blocks and put your building skills and imagination to the test.
Build your own house, create a giant tree, design an entire village or come up with something that has never been built before. Anything is possible! Working together is encouraged, experimenting is welcome, and builders of all ages can join in. Whether you’re a seasoned Minecraft fan or simply feel like building something big: the floor is yours!
Minecraft Workshops
Want even more Minecraft? Join one of our special paid workshops. Discover Minecraft in a whole new way and reserve your spot early!
During the autumn break, you can choose from three awesome workshops every day:
- NEW! Minecraft Climate Crafters | Unravel the secret contents of the Minecraft Climate Chest together with other players.
- Programming | Control a moving Minecraft robot using programming codes and solve an exciting mission.
- Virtual Reality | Put on a VR headset and take a 3D virtual journey through the Netherlands — in Minecraft!
